Ingenu’s RPMA IoT Network comes to South Africa

  • The Ingenu LPWAN network, designed specifically for IoT machine-to-machine (M2M) requirements, is finally coming to South Africa. Ingenu (formerly On Ramp Wireless) is one of the new major IoT network providers globally, along with the likes of Sigfox and LoRA, and has partnered with Vula Telematix to deploy their network in South Africa (and other African countries). Pylot has been involved with Vula Telematix since 2016 and is encouraged by the financial backing, skills and flexibility to deploy the Ingenu network. Vula Telematix is currently committed to working with Pylot on two pilot IoT projects for this year, both based in KZN.

The Ingenu platform is based on random phase multiple access (RPMA) technology and operates in the 2.4Ghz spectrum. Vula Telematix is currently deploying the RPMA network in Gauteng and Cape Town, with Bloemfontein and Durban to follow. If the demand or need requires it, Vula will redefine their rollout strategy to accommodate.
