Pylot and the Microsoft Azure journey

In 2016 Pylot built its Portal initially on an opensource platform, but as the client base expanded and the demand for flexibility increased, the architecture of the portal did not lend itself to an agile interface. With the purchase of Pylot by the First Technology Group in 2018 Pylot gained the benefit of qualified Microsoft skills to investigate a more effective solution.

The solution was to migrate the platform to Microsoft Azure and utilise some of the many components available within Azure. The first phase was to implement Azure Active Directory for improved authentication functionality and security, along with the integration of Power BI for more flexible reports and dashboards.

Azure IoT Hub opened up various client opportunities when it came to collecting the data in a structured and managed way.
